17th AUTOSAR Open Conference

Under the motto “Combining Open Source, Community Source and Commercial Automotive Software: Challenges and Solutions,” the 17th AUTOSAR Open Conference brought together more than 300 participants, partners, researchers, developers, and industry experts in Shanghai to discuss key trends shaping the future of automotive software.

The 17th AUTOSAR Open Conference was held on June 10-11th in Shanghai, China.

Under the motto “Combining Open Source, Community Source and Commercial Automotive Software: Challenges and Solutions,” the 17th AUTOSAR Open Conference brought together more than 300 participants, partners, researchers, developers, and industry experts in Shanghai to discuss key trends shaping the future of automotive software.

The conference addressed major industry topics, including AI-Defined Vehicles (AIDV), Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), the evolution of CAPI, the integration of AUTOSAR and AI, multi-domain control platforms, future developments of the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform, service-oriented software development and testing, efficiency improvements in AUTOSAR-based development, and unified software testing methods.

The two-day conference was moderated by AUTOSAR Spokesperson Joachim Langenwalter and opened with a welcome address by Thomas Rüping, AUTOSAR Chairperson. This was followed by an introduction to AUTOSAR, presented by Christian Nickl, Speaker of the AUTOSAR Project Leader Team; Jing Zhe, AUTOSAR China Hub Spokesperson; and Joachim Langenwalter. 

The plenary session continued with keynote presentations by Zheng Yali, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Society of Automotive Engineers (CSAE) and Executive Dean of the National Institute of Automotive Strategy, who spoke on “Future Development Trends of the Automobile Industry,” and Mr. Aiguo Cui, Software Level 8 Expert and Director of the Intelligent Vehicle Control Product Department at Huawei, who presented “Digital Foundation in the Intelligent Vehicle Era.”

During the conference, AUTOSAR and iSOFT announced a significant contribution to the Common Adaptive Platform Implementation (CAPI), marking an important step in AUTOSAR’s evolution toward an executable, implementation-driven software platform for Software-Defined Vehicles and AI-Defined Vehicles. The contribution includes production-oriented Adaptive Platform software components and integration capabilities designed to support interoperability, centralized compute architectures, service-oriented communication, and modern automotive software development workflows. In recognition of this contribution, AUTOSAR Chairperson Thomas Rüping presented the CAPI Outstanding Contribution Award to iSOFT, represented by General Manager Liu Hongqian.

The afternoon program featured technical sessions delivered by representatives from a broad range of companies, including iSOFT, Elektrobit, Desay, Hyundai AutoEver, IAT (Beijing) Automotive Digital Technology, SystemWeaver, RTI, NXP Semiconductors, ETAS, Shanghai Hetion Software Technology, and Vector Automotive Technology Shanghai Co., Ltd.

The first day concluded with a panel discussion on “AUTOSAR and the Future of AI-Defined Vehicles.” Moderated by AUTOSAR Spokesperson Joachim Langenwalter, the panel brought together representatives from across the automotive software ecosystem, including Thomas Zeitler of AUMOVIO, Yu Peng of XPENG, Jiaxi Liu of Xiaomi Technology, Diana Mao of Neusoft Reach, Ralf Schneider of Mercedes-Benz AG, and Boxue Li of Beijing HIRAIN Technologies.

The discussion highlighted that the future of automotive software will not be shaped by a single company or region, but through cross-industry and international collaboration. In this context, AUTOSAR continues to provide common ground for cooperation and the real-world implementation of AI-driven automotive software.

The second day of the conference opened with two keynote speeches: “Technology-Driven & Ecosystem-Led: Practices and Explorations of RISC-V in Automotive Electronics,” delivered by Dr. Li Chunqiang, Vice President and Senior Director of Research and Development at Alibaba DAMO Academy XuanTie RISC-V, and “Scaling Through E/E Architecture: The BMW Neue Klasse Approach,” delivered by Dr. Ralf Grassnick of BMW China Services Ltd.

The agenda then continued with a full day of expert presentations delivered by leading international companies, including Xiaomi, Vector Informatik, eSOL, Geely, develop group, Tata Consultancy Services, Neusoft Reach, KOTEI, AVIN Systems, KPIT Technologies, PopcornSAR, Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH, and AUMOVIO.
