CAPI 1.0 Release
With the announcement of reinforcing AUTOSAR‘s evolution from specification toward executable software a first landmark on this journey has been achieved. AUTOSAR released the first version of the Common Adaptive Implementation (CAPI).
It follows the widely-used AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform release R20-11 and has already forward-looking compatibility with some R23-11 interfaces. It implements all 15 core functional clusters including Communication, Execution Management, Logging, and Diagnostics. It also contains the code generators (provided as source code) as well as an easy to set up demo.
AUTOSAR and it‘s community will iteratively improve the usability of the release in the community and will provide further enhancements during the upcoming CAPI releases.
A first baseline – the beginning of something great
For the first time in AUTOSAR we now have a complete code baseline representing the Adaptive Platform Standard. This is the starting point to build upon – with various opportunities to contribute like lifting the baseline to later AUTOSAR Releases or shaping the test strategy – just to name a view.

Closing the spec-to-code-gap
With CAPI we are not only pushing a code-first open collaboration model but also providing all means to the community of letting code-first parts into the standard – in a fast and efficient way with the aim to create continuously feedback loops. This is the natural evolution from architectural blueprint to a pre-fabricated foundation.
