The 10th AUTOSAR Open Conference in Silicon Valley outlined the features of the Adaptive Platform to more than 250 participants

With the headline „AUTOSAR – THE Automotive Software Platform“ more than 250 participants joined this year’s 10th AUTOSAR Open Conference on Nov. 7th and 8th, 2017 in Silicon Valley.

On Nov 8th, 2017, the AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) Development Partnership held its 10th AUTOSAR Open Conference at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. The conference and networking reception on the evening of Nov. 7th was attended by more than 250 registered participants from a total of 14 different countries. The reception took place amid the software exhibition of the Computer History Museum. The conference program in the Hahn Auditorium of the Computer History Museum included four sessions with 16 presentations and an open discussion.

Jack Weast from Intel Corporation delivered the keynote presentation focusing on autonomous driving and safety. The AUTOSAR Organization then presented the latest developments in the AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive Platform, including an overview of the features of AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform Release R17-03, R17-10 and R18-03. This was followed by a session on advanced driver assistant systems. The second part of the day included a session about AUTOSAR technology and methodology as well as specialized presentations about the AUTOSAR Adaptive Platforms.

“With its thematic range, the 10th AUTOSAR Open Conference offered an impressive demonstration of how AUTOSAR has become a global standard,” said Dr. Thomas Scharnhorst, spokesperson for AUTOSAR. “The large number of attendees and the very positive feedback are proof of the excellent reputation which the AUTOSAR Open Conference has acquired among the target groups involved.”

The presentation topics covered a broad spectrum targeting researchers, engineers, academics and members of the development partnership. The conference thus provided a forum for sharing results and development activities concerning the AUTOSAR standard.

A focus of this year’s Open Conference was on the new AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform which is being developed to have a state-of-the-art POSIX system running on a µP with safety and security demands to allow e.g. software download over the air at run time or to drive functions and applications for autonomous driving on those µP. The specification and code implementation is free for use for AUTOSAR partners all over the world.

The 10th AUTOSAR Open Conference ended with a question and answer session that gave an often-used opportunity to enter into a dialogue with representatives of the Steering Committee and with Project Leaders.

All presentations held at the 10th AUTOSAR Open Conference are available for the conference participants and AUTOSAR members.

The 11th AUTOSAR Open Conference will take place in November 2018 in Shanghai, consisting of a networking reception on Nov. 6th and the conference on Nov. 7th, 2018. A call-for-papers will be announced in advance.
