AUTOSAR Release Event R24-11

On Thursday, December 5th, the latest AUTOSAR Release, R24-11, was effectively delivered at the Virtual Release Event hosted on Swapcard.

The two release sessions attracted more than 750 participants representing over 300 companies. For the first time in the history of Release Events, the presentations were streamed with multilingual support for Chinese and Japanese audiences.

This year’s presentations highlighted a detailed feature overview of the R24-11 release, showcasing the ongoing evolution of the AUTOSAR platforms. Additionally, attendees gained insights into AUTOSAR’s strategic vision for the future and an exciting preview of developments planned for 2025.

After a Welcome Note from AUTOSAR Spokesperson Günter Reichart, the event opened with a comprehensive introduction to the AUTOSAR organization, its development approach, and its core guiding principles, delivered by Project Leader Speaker Carmine De Iesu, Project Leader Speaker. AUTOSAR continues to fulfill its mission as a global partnership of leading companies in the automotive and software industries, collaboratively developing and promoting scalable software platforms and E/E system architecture to enable intelligent mobility.

The R24-11 Feature Overview was the highlight of both sessions. Participants were given deep dives into Automotive API, AP Stabilization, Machine Configuration on the Adaptive Platform, DDS in Foundation and Platforms, and the Feature Graph. Engagement was high, and participants from both sessions had many questions and comments relating to the new release, which led to lively Q&A discussions.

Chairperson Michael Niklas-Höret provided a glimpse into 2025, explaining that AUTOSAR is working on scalable software and E/E architecture due to the complexity of new sensors, radars, ECU, DATA and most importantly, compatibility between manufacturers to communicate safely.

Moreover, supports the transformation to SDV by avoiding parallel development and focusing on cross-industry collaboration. One particular focus is the SOAFEE/AUTOSAR collaboration for both the Classic and Adaptive Platforms. There will be a Kick-Off SOAFEE working group at the All Working Group Meeting in March. Further plans for 2025 include the conclusion of the AUTOSAR Opening Strategy with the finalization of the AUTOSAR Open Framework.

Summarized in numbers, the AUTOSAR Release R24-11 featured approximately 2,400 incorporation tasks across the three AUTOSAR platforms. Over 1,700 change requests (CRs) were discussed within the AUTOSAR community, supported by the collaboration of more than 200 AUTOSAR partners across 20 working groups. This effort resulted in over 350,000 Adaptive Platform (AP) lines of code, demonstrating and validating the AP standard. Additionally, 9 new concepts were developed for both the Adaptive and Classic Platforms, contributing to the definition of a unified E/E system architecture for future intelligent mobility.

AUTOSAR would like to thank the AUTOSAR community for their work and collaboration throughout the year. A special thank you to the moderator and speakers of this year’s release event: Günter Reichart, Carmine De Iesu, Pawel Jarosz, Nadym Salem, Uwe Honekamp, Emilio Gujarro, Philip Stolz, Tony Schmidt and Michael Niklas-Höret.
